Be a responsible citizen on the internet! Keep yourself and others safe!

Why do we need to be safe online?

The harms online are harms you also experience in real life.

For example, if someone online says something bad about you, or bullies you, you might actually feel hurt.

Protecting yourself also leads to protecting your family and friends!

If you’re safe online, your family and friends will be safe too.

Bad people can try to show us things that may disturb, alarm, scare, or harm you!

How to be Safe Online

In this digital age, you can never be too careful online. Let’s make sure you’re as safe as can be with these tips:

Secure all your online accounts by having a different password for each one and implementing two-factor authorization if possible. Get help from a trusted adult if you don’t know how.

Consult and confirm with trusted adults on suspicious links and materials online. Scammers and hackers can be everywhere!

Don’t share everything! Make sure that your email, complete birthday and address, and other important personal information visible only to you and the ones you trust on online platforms.

Be wary of strangers online especially if they act in ways you’re not comfortable with.

Not everything has to be posted. Bad people may try to harm you, your friends, or family through the information they get from these posts.

Keeping others safe

Now that you’re as safe as possible, let’s make sure that you’re helping keep the people you care about safe too!
