For Parents
The Free Internet Access in Public Places program provides wifi access for all citizens in public spaces, including schools and libraries in order to empower the Filipino people by giving them the means to improve their knowledge.
This means that your child may be exposed to dangers on the internet such as cyberbullying, exposure to violent and graphic content including pornography, or become victims of scams or even sexual abuse and exploitation online.
Protect your child online, Build a safer internet with us
The Internet is a great place to find information, learn new skills, connect with family and friends, and be entertained. However, it can also be a dangerous place, especially for children.
While you can delay your child’s access to the Internet or limit their screen time, it may be unavoidable that your child will have more involvement in the digital space – whether watching videos and playing games online or using social media and other online messaging platforms.
As a parent, it is your responsibility to protect your children online, by educating and enabling them to protect themselves and by making sure their access to inappropriate websites and content is prevented.
When parents like you are knowledgeable about how children use the internet and what dangers may exist there, we can together build a safer internet for our children.

How to protect your child?
There are different variety of methods to teach children about online safety. Check out how you can approach your children below!
2-5 year olds
In this digital age, exposure to gadgets and the internet has been a common practice for children as young as 2 years old. Remember to always check what the child can access and put safeguards in place. Establish rules for internet use that a child understands and clearly explain the reason for it.
6-10 year olds
School-age children may already have a naturally curious mind. They are more likely to be at risk of online harm. Discuss with them in a manner they understand what to do and not to do on the internet as well as the signs to watch out for to know when something is wrong.
Preteens and teenagers
It is typically around this age when children develop sexual curiosities and/or explore and define their identities. At this stage, they will need safe. accurate and adequate information that can empower them in the journey to self-discovery.
